This year’s award, made by the Society for the Protection of Ancient Buildings (SPAB), has been won for conservation of two 20th-century wall paintings in the Church of St Martin of Tours at Bilborough, Nottinghamshire. Completed in 1946 by war artist Evelyn Gibbs (1905–91), the lost murals of the Annunciation were found in 2009 by workmen re-wiring the church. SPAB also announced a commendation for repairs to the medieval choir stalls at St Mary, Nantwich. Full story here.
