The Heritage Lottery Fund (HLF) has published new research revealing the impact of its Major Grants of £5 million or more. With 100 projects having been completed for ten-years or more, long-term sustained benefits can now be assessed. The study found that 94 million visits are made each year as a result of the Major Grants (a 130% rise), with the biggest increases from families and young people. Local tourism businesses have also benefitted, through an extra £480m in revenue as a result of the increased visits, creating an extra 9,600 new jobs.
