2024 Annual General Meeting and lecture

Thursday 25 April at 6.30pm ONLINE

All Members of the Society are welcome.

The agenda for the AGM will be sent to members of the Society by post.

The agenda, Annual Report and Accounts for 2023 are here.

followed at 7pm by the Annual Lecture which is open to everyone, Members and non-Members.

This year, we welcome Professor Nicholas Orme as our lecturer, and he will be drawing from his new book The History of England’s Cathedrals to speak about “Cathedrals and the Reformation”. England’s cathedrals have reached us through centuries of change and crises, one of which was the Reformation. It destroyed the monastic communities that had operated ten of the cathedrals, and the reformed Church of England could have operated without any of them, as happened in Protestant Germany. Why then did most English cathedrals survive, and in what form did they do so?

This year, the AGM and Lecture will be held entirely online – please book here.
