One of the main benefits enjoyed by members of the Church Monuments Society is “Church Monuments”, the annual peer-reviewed journal. The Society is looking for people interested in an editorial role. One of the co-editors will be stepping down once CM38 (2024) is published; a new member joining the team as soon as possible will aid a smooth transition. Who to appoint will be the decision of the remaining co-editor with the full transition taking place in the summer of 2024.
Prior experience is not essential. The editors work together, and guidance will be at hand. Candidates do not need to be an existing member of the CMS but must join before taking up the position. It is an honorary position with no remuneration. The current editors feel they have gained from exposure to up-to-date research across a wide range of topics, periods and methodologies, as well as experience of academic publishing. For younger members, this is a chance to add an important role to their CV.
