Father Alan Walker will lead us on a visit to St Jude’s church. Designed by Sir Edwin Lutyens and listed Grade 1, St Jude’s church contains major decorative art; murals by leading artists of the interwar period including a depiction of heroic women associated with the First World War, the campaign for women’s suffrage, and other causes. The work of the Glasgow School is particularly well represented. In addition, we hope to be able to offer a visit to the adjacent Hampstead Free Church, also designed by Lutyens; details available from the visits secretary.

We will visit in daylight hours, to get the best light with which to view the interior decorations and furnishing.

Meet at 11am at the Free Church (formerly the United Reform Church) at 2 North Square, Hampstead Garden Suburb London NW11 7AA. We will then walk across Central Square and visit St Jude-on-the-Hill at around 11.30 AM.

Cost: £10.00.
