The Ecclesiological Society

For those who love churches

Join us

Membership of the Society is open to everyone.  Members live throughout the UK, and some wider afield.  Our interests range over all periods and places, from the earliest churches in Britain through to the most recent developments in ecclesiastical architecture, fittings and liturgy across the world.  The Society is organised by members on a voluntary basis.

What do I receive as a member?

  • Invitations to all the Society’s events, lectures, and visits. Recent annual conferences have included recreating the experience of worship in the late medieval parish church; graveyards and their memorials; 20th century churches; stained glass, and features of churches in East Anglia.
  • Information on similar activities organised by other societies, and on new publications about churches.
  • The Society’s journal, Ecclesiology Today, issued around twice a year. Typically it is around 100 pages in full colour.
  • Church Crawler magazine to update members on news, views and church days out.
  • Free copies of the Society’s occasional standalone publications

Above all, you will have the pleasure of belonging to a Society of like-minded people – people who love churches.  We seek to offer activities throughout England and Wales, and members – of whom 60% live outside London – are encouraged to help us realise this goal.

How much does it cost?

In the UK, the cost is £17.50 per year (£14 for retired), payable by banker’s order.
Additional members at same address (shared mailings) £3.50

UK Life Membership £300

Outside the UK the cost is £30 per year. This must be paid in sterling.

We are a registered charity – charity number 210501; and for those who enjoy this sort of thing, here is a copy of our laws.
